What are your main ingredients?
Our products feature 100% grass-fed beef tallow, beeswax, and coconut wax as base ingredients. We use essential oils, herbs, and hydrosols for scent and benefits, all sourced naturally.
Is tallow safe for my skin?
Yes! Grass-fed beef tallow is rich in vitamins A, D, E, and K, and fatty acids that nourish and moisturize. It’s gentle for most skin types, including sensitive skin, and is a traditional skincare ingredient.
Are your products safe for pets?
Our essential oils are used at safe dilution levels (0.5-1%) and are pet-friendly when used as directed. Avoid direct contact with pets’ skin or eyes, consult a vet if unsure.
Do you use any synthetic fragrances or preservatives?
No, we avoid synthetic fragrances and preservatives. Our scents come from natural essential oils and herbs, and we use rosemary oleoresin extract (ROE) as a natural antioxidant to prevent rancidity.
Are your products vegan?
No, our tallow-based soaps and beeswax candles are not vegan due to animal-derived ingredients. We offer coconut wax candles as a plant-based alternative.
How long does your products last?
What are mesh exfoliating bags that are included with the soap?
· Each tallow soap comes with a reusable mesh exfoliating bag with string closure. Use it with the soap to create a gentle lather and exfoliate your skin, enhancing your Slow Body Care routine. After use, rinse and air dry the bag.
It can also be repurposed as a produce bag, sachet for dried herbs, or organizer for small items—perfect for sustainable living!
Creation Process
How are your soaps made?
Our soaps are crafted using the cold-process method, blending tallow with lye and hydrosols, then infusing herbs and essential oils. Each batch cures for 6 weeks to ensure a hard, long-lasting bar.
What happens to the sodium hydroxide in the soap?
During the soap-making process, sodium hydroxide reacts with tallow and liquid in a chemical process called saponification, which transforms the sodium hydroxide and fats into soap leaving no active sodium hydroxide in the final product. After a 6-week cure, our soaps are fully safe and gentle for use, with all sodium hydroxide fully converted to pure soap.
Why do soaps need to be cured for 6 weeks?
Curing allows excess water to evaporate, hardening the soap and making it milder for your skin. This traditional process ensures quality and longevity.
Are your candles handmade?
Yes, our candles are hand-poured using tallow, beeswax, and coconut wax, infused with essential oils and herbs. They cure for 5 days to optimize burn time and scent throw.
Can I customize my order?
Currently, we offer standard scents and bundles. For custom orders, contact us at info@retroremedyco.com, processing time will be discussed on case-by-case basis.
Shipping
How long does shipping take?
Domestic orders via UPS or USPS take 2-7 business days after processing. International orders take 7-21 business days, depending on customs. Peak seasons (e.g., November-December) may cause delays.
What if my order arrives damaged?
Notify us within 48 hours with photos at info@retroremedyco.com. We’ll arrange a replacement or refund, minus shipping costs.
